The Arkansas Razorbacks hosted the FIU Panthers at Bud Walton Arena in front of an announced crowd of 13,373. The Hogs got started with a dunk by sophomore forward Daniel Gafford and were paced in the first half by the hot hand of true freshman guard Isaiah Joe and Mason Jones. Joe hit 5 of 7 three points in the first half and went to the locker room leading all scorers with 17 points. Jones had 9. The Panthers were powered by point guard Brian Beard, Jr. with 11 points in the first half. Arkansas led 58 to 35 at the break.
It was more of the same in the 2nd half with Gafford getting fired up with multiple dunks and rebounds. Gafford finished the night with 23 p0ints, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks on 9 of 12 shooting and 5 of 8 from the free throw line. Joe remained hot in the 2nd half from behind the arc and finished the game with 34 points to lead all scorers for the game including hitting 10 out of 13 three pointers. Jones finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
The Hogs improved to 5-1 while FIU dropped to 7-2. Next up for Arkansas is an away game in Fort Collins, CO vs Colorado State on Dec 5th at 9 PM.
