The Arkansas Razorbacks started the Chad Morris era with a win over the Eastern Illinois Panthers in the newly remodeled Donald W Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Saturday, 55-20. Cole Kelley started the game but was replaced by Ty Storey after several series and the Hogs up 10-0, thanks to a field goal and a fumble recovery in the end zone by Arkansas defender Briston Guidry.
Ty Storey ended up throwing for 261 yards and 3 touchdowns on 12 of 17 passes and ran for another touchdown after freshman linebacker Bumper Pool scooped up a fumble and returned it inside the Panther’s red zone. A few plays later and Storey dove over a defender for the touchdown to put the Hogs up 45-6.
The Arkansas defense under new coordinator John Chavis forced 6 fumbles and recovered 5 of those.
Arkansas travels next week to face Colorado State.
