North Little Rock, Arkansas– The University of Central Arkansas Bears scored early but the Little Rock Trojans scored late and often in a 11-6 victory over the Bears in Round 2 of the “Rock N Roar Rivalry” on Tuesday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.

The Bears, who won the first meeting 12-3 in Conway, looked on their way to another blowout, plating five runs in the bottom of the second inning, using three hits and two Little Rock errors. But the Bears (22-19) would only score once more as the Trojans (15-26) outscored them 11-1 the rest of the way.

The Trojans finished with 13 hits and the Bears only five. Little Rock scored eight runs in the fourth to take the lead for good, then addded three more in the sixth inning. UCA managed one final run in the fourth when Eddy Sanchez walked and eventually scored on Hunter Strong’s ground out.

In the second inning, UCA opened with catcher Cody LeBlanc’s double down the right field line and a Justin McCarty walk. A sacrifice bunt by Brooks Balisterri moved both runners up and Rigo Aguilar’s base hit to right field scored LeBlanc with the game’s first run.

Eddy Sanchez’ bunt was misplayed by the Trojans, allowing Sanchez to make it all the way to third and both Aguilar and McCarty to score. After Michael Haun walked, Keaton Presley doubled to left field, scoring Haun and Sanchez for a 5-0 lead.

The Trojans then scored eight runs on six hits and an error in the top of the fourth, chasing UCA starter Jacob Murray. UCA’s first of five relievers, Gavin Tillery, was tagged with the loss. Reliever Corbin Osburn (1-0) got the victory for the Trojans and Justin Garcia picked up a three-inning save.

Presley finished 2 for 5 with 2 RBI for the Bears, who broke a three-game winning streak. Round 3 of the rivalry series is set for Tuesday, May 16 at Little Rock’s Gary Hogan Field.

The Bears return to Southland Conference action this weekend at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Game times are 6:00 p.m. Friday, 4:00 p.m. Saturday and 11:00 a.m. Sunday.
